Privacy notice.
What I collect, why, and what I do not do with it.
Last updated: 6 September 2026.
The short version
This site is run by me, Monique Shefer, from the Gers in south-west France. Your data does not leave Prismatic Soul: nothing about you is ever sold, rented or traded, and I do not track you across other websites. Analytics here are anonymous and cookieless. If you write to me, or join one of the email lists, I keep your address so I can reply or send you what you asked for — and you can tell me to delete it at any time, without giving a reason.
What I collect
- Your email address, if you join one of the lists: First Readers (the opening chapters of the book), the retreat interest list, or the practices list.
- What you chose, if you told me — which retreat week interests you, or which kinds of practice you would like recorded. These are stored as labels against your address so I can write to the right people.
- Your name, address and message, if you write through the contact form — whatever you choose to put in it.
- Anonymous page views, through Cloudflare Web Analytics. No cookies, no personal identifiers, nothing that identifies you.
Why, and on what basis
- Consent for the email lists. You ask to join, then confirm by clicking a link in an email, and every message has an unsubscribe link. Withdrawing consent is as easy as giving it.
- Legitimate interest for replying to a message you sent me, and for knowing which pages are read so I can write better ones.
These lists are all mine, and all part of the same small practice, so if you join one you may also hear now and then about the book or the weeks at the chateau. What you will never receive is mail from anybody else.
Who else handles it
Only what is needed to run this, and none of them may use your data for their own purposes:
- Kit (formerly ConvertKit) — stores the email lists and sends the emails. Kit is based in the United States, so your address is transferred outside the EU under the safeguards in Kit’s data processing terms.
- Formspree — relays contact-form messages to my inbox.
- Cloudflare — hosts the site and provides the anonymous analytics.
Your data does not leave Prismatic Soul. It is never sold, rented, traded, or handed to anyone to use for their own purposes. The three companies above are suppliers who hold it on my behalf and may only act on my instructions — they are not permitted to do anything else with it.
How long I keep it
Email addresses stay until you unsubscribe or ask me to remove them, and I clear out addresses that have not opened anything in about two years. Contact-form messages stay in my email while the conversation is useful and are deleted after that.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you can ask me to show you what I hold, correct it, delete it, hand it over in a portable form, or stop using it — at any time, without explaining why. Write to monique@prismatic-soul.com and I will do it.
If you think I have handled your data badly and I have not put it right, you can complain to the French data protection authority, the CNIL, or to the equivalent authority where you live.
Cookies and what is stored in your browser
No tracking cookies. The site itself stores one thing: whether you have dismissed the notice at the bottom of the page, so it does not appear twice.
Pages that carry a sign-up form load a small script from Kit so the form works. Kit may set its own cookie to recognise a returning visitor and avoid showing the same form repeatedly. Those pages are the book page, the retreats page and the practice pages; everywhere else loads nothing from Kit.
Changes
If this notice changes in a way that matters, the date at the top changes with it.
